About Us
Our Story
Konrad is a German Namibian and grew up on a farm in the Southern Parts of Namibia (near Helmeringhausen). Marinda is a local from the Helderberg basin and they have been living on this property in Gordons Bay since 2003.
By creatively bringing old and new together, they have given The Yard a rustic farmstyle feel with enough little luxuries.
With Marinda’s love of people and Konrad’s keen eye for detail, they have created both a comfortable and unforgettable stay for their guests.
Konrad enjoys turning every project into artwork, ensuring everything is working and maintained to the highest standards.
Marinda loves being a homemaker – baking, preserving, cooking, knitting, etc, and most of these are for sale in an Honesty Box in each unit.
Nina, their wire-hair terrier, loves to hit the road with them as they enjoy camping and travelling South Africa and abroad. Having experienced the need for Pet Friendly Accommodation, they decided to make The Yard Pet Friendly. They also have 2 adorable cats, Tammy and Mango.
Between Konrad and Marinda, they speak Afrikaans, English, German and Hindi.
It is their pride and pleasure to make your stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.
